Constance B. (Kopczick) Donovan

May 11, 1924 ~ February 15, 2018 (age 93)

Constance B. Donovan

Age 93 and a lifelong resident of Morris, passed away Thursday morning, February 15, 2018 at Park Pointe Healthcare in Morris.

Born May 11, 1924 in Morris, Constance Bernice was a daughter of Peter and Teresa (Stanonis) Kopczick. She was a graduate of Morris Community High School with the Class of 1942, and went on to honorable serve as a WAVE with the United States Navy, during the conclusion of World War II. On September 3, 1960, Connie married Joseph Jude Donovan in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris, and together they made their home and raised their family in Morris.

Connie’s career with Bell Telephone Company spanned for more than 30 years, where she worked as a long distance operator until her retirement. She was an active member of Immaculate Conception Parish; Morris American Legion Post #294 and the Polish National Alliance (PNA). Connie was also a proud Democrat, who served as an Election Judge for many years.

Known to many as “Aunt Connie”, and also as “Connie Kupcake”, Connie was a woman of true fashion, whose interests were varied, but ageless. She took great pleasure in dancing a good polka, as well as cooking and gardening. She was a tremendous lover of animals, and rescued animals of all kinds throughout the neighborhood. Connie loved sports, especially the Morris Redskins, and always being young at heart, had fun dressing up and participating in the Halloween festivities. She made countless memories traveling, and participating in bus trips from near to afar with friends and family.

Connie truly cherished her grandchildren, and always had a special way of connecting with family, as she lovingly welcomed each baby born into her circle.

With her warm smile, outgoing personality, and contagious zest for life, there was no one who met Connie and left unchanged. She never took anything lightly and always went above and beyond on everything she did. Kind, generous, happy, and fun, she will never be forgotten.

Survivors include her four children: Theresa (Aleksandar) Bulatovic of DesPlaines, Illinois, James Donovan of Eugene, Oregon and Marguerite Donovan and Constance Colleen (Angel) Feliciano, both of Chicago; eight grandchildren: Ian (Heather) Waters, Jessica (Timothy) Miller, Brian Waters, Siobhan Donovan, Keegan Smith, Erin O’Neill, Lily Feliciano and Elijah Feliciano; one great grandson Dylan; one sister JoAnn (the late George) Knudson of Morris and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as friends whom fondly referred to her as “Aunt Connie”.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joseph on February 14, 2003, and seven brothers and sisters: Ray “Kup” Kopczick, Julie Kopczick-Bien, Walter “Shorty” Kopczick, Joseph “Bush” Kopczick, Stanley “Ike” Kopczick, John Kopczick and Maryann Kopczick.

The family will receive friends for a visitation on Sunday, February 18, 2018 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block east of Illinois Route 47) in Morris, and again on Monday morning, February 19, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 600 East Jackson Street in Morris from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 10:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Ed Howe, CR presiding.

Burial will be in Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Morris, where Connie will be laid to rest with her late husband Joseph. Pallbearers will be: Aleksandar Bulatovic, Angel Feliciano, Richard “Dick” Kopczick, Stanley Knudson, Lance Peterson and Donald Arthur Davidson, III.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Connie’s memory to an animal related charity or rescue of the donor’s choosing.

The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to Park Pointe Healthcare for the never ending kindness, constant courtesies and loving care that was given to their mother. These acts of kindness will forever be remembered.
