Age 92 of Morris, formerly of Chicago, died Monday, April 4, 2022 at his home.

Born February 13, 1930 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Alan was the son of Lawrence and Ester (nee Martin) Wallie. He was raised in Pittsburg and attended Carnegie Mellon University and completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Alan then enlisted in the United States Army and served in Korea from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1955. Following his military service, he furthered his education by completing his Master of Fine Arts degree at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Detroit.

Alan began his career as an educator in Chicago teaching high school art and then moved to teaching at the collegiate level, first at Chicago Teachers College and then later at Northeastern Illinois University. He retired from education in 1989, and then began a career in Interior Design. Alan and his husband owned and operated Alan Wallie and Associates in Morris for many years, which was a wonderful outlet for his creativity. Alan was a talented painter, and he further explored his talents by creating and designing jewelry. He and his husband traveled the world and were fortunate to spend many winters in India, where they learned and created many beautiful designs for themselves and their clients. Alan made the most of every opportunity presented to him and leaves behind a beautiful legacy of artistic talent, perseverance, and kind heartedness.

Survivors include his husband, Denis Kruk of Morris, one cousin, Iris (the late Martin) Wittstein of Fairfield, Connecticut, one brother-in-law, Raymond Kruk of Dwight, and one sister-in-law, Marion Kruk of Morris.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Ester.

Per Alan’s wishes, cremation rites are being accorded and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Alan’s memory to: Southern Poverty Law Center, 400 Washington Avenue, Montgomery, Alabama 36104.

Cremation services and arrangements have been made under the direction and care of Reeves Funeral Homes, Ltd. in Morris (815) 942-2500.
