Albert V. Debelak
Age 90 of Coal City, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Morris Hospital.
Born March 22, 1930 in Waukegan, Illinois, Albert Vincent was a son of Stephen and Mary (Sluga) Debelak. He was raised in Waukegan; graduated from Waukegan High School with the Class of 1949, and went on to honorably serve in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
A lifelong brick mason, Albert owned and operated Al V. Debelak & Sons Masonry until his retirement in 2003. He was a former member of Area #1 Outdoor Club, where he was one of the founders of the Father’s Day Fishing Derby and served on the Board of Directors. A true outdoorsman, Al enjoyed hunting fishing and morel hunting. He also took pleasure in gardening, lure making and bird watching.
Survivors include his wife, Donna, whom he married December 13, 1976; five children, Walter (Carina) Debelak of South Wilmington, Eric (Sheila) Debelak of Marengo, Regina (Dyrl) Landers of Athens, Alabama, Matthew (Dawn) Debelak of Cabery and Cynthia Gremar of Coal City; (10) grandchildren: Rachel Debelak, Renae (Frank) Turner, Trevor (Jaclyn) Debelak, Liz Daniel, Madyson Debelak, Faye Debelak, Dhane Debelak, Kenadey Gremar, Karly Gremar and Bentley Debelak, and two great grandsons, Lucas Turner and Ian Turner, as well as his dear friend, Donny Vilt.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Steve Debelak.
Per Albert’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City on Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of memorial service, 12:00 p.m. Face masks and measures of social distancing will be in order, and the funeral home staff will assist the family to maintain current mandates.
