Alice Fay (Davis) Kukla,
Age 78 of Wilmington, and formerly of South Holland, IL, passed away peacefully Monday, December 18, 2017 at Aperion Care Center in Wilmington.
Born on September 26, 1939 in Wilmington, IL, Alice Fay was a daughter of E.J. and Alice (Butcher) Davis. Growing up she spent much of her youth on Starvation Hill in Wilmington.
Alice Fay was a graduate of Wilmington High School and earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Illinois State University. She taught elementary school primarily in Harvey, IL for nearly 35 years until her retirement. In March of 1974 Alice Fay married Harry Kukla at the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmington.
Survivors include her sister, Bonnie Southall; stepdaughters: Kathy Dunn and Tammy (Rob) Houlf; grandchildren: Ricky Dunn, Tommy Dunn, Jeremy Lundberg, Robbie and Heather; her nephews, Brent (Jeanne) Southall, Brad (Stephanie) Southall and Barry (Joyce) Southall, and her great nieces and nephews: Lexi, Kiley and John, Sarah and Haley, and Mason, Miranda and Molly.
Alice Fay was preceded in death by her parents E.J. and Alice Davis, her brother-in-law, Burnell Southall and her beloved husband, Harry Kukla.
The family will host a visitation on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service 12:00 noon at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Pastor Winn Alley from the First Presbyterian Church in Wilmington will officiate, and burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
