Age 82 of Braceville, Illinois and formerly of Wilmington, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 16, 2025 at her home.
Born July 25, 1942 in Lauderdale County, Tennessee, Barbara Joyce was a daughter of Allen Paul and Beulah Marie (Jones) Chipman. She was raised in the Ripley, Tennessee area.
Barb dedicated her early years to nurturing her family, and later gained employment with Johnson & Johnson Personal Products where she worked for two decades. In her free time she enjoyed line dancing, crocheting and tending to her flowers. She loved to travel and after retiring at a young age, was fortunate to motorhome throughout the country.
Barb was a great fan of the Chicago Cubs and country music, however nothing gave her greater joy than family and being with her grandkids.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne, whom she married August 31, 1985; three children: Cheryl (David) Rampa of Wilmington, Vicki (Danny) Bueschel of Mesa, Arizona and Lisa (Jeff) Zavala of Wilmington; step-children: Cathy (Carl) Matney of Oglesby, Illinois, and Kim (Richie) Reeder and Jennifer (John) Krause, both of Gardner, Illinois; grandchildren: Jason (Sandra) Rampa, Cory (Kristin) Billingsley, Lucas Rampa (Kate Alberico), Kristen (Matt) Rawson, Ryan Zavala, Spenser (Tyler) Geiss, Logan Zavala (Brianna Smith), Gabie Bueschel (Declan Cronin), Steven (Kristy) Morris, Allie Reeder, Ricky Reeder, Ashley (Jason) Kulish, Blake Wheeler (Jessica Allen), Cecilee Thompson, Ethan Thompson and Jacob Thompson; great grandchildren: Cheyenne Rampa (Shane Peterson) GiAnna Rampa, Addison Billingsley, Bristol Billingsley, Sutter Geiss, Dempsey Geiss, Alex Rawson, Arley Rawson, Lilah Zavala, Sage Kulish, Clayton Wheeler, Rayna Wheeler, Maren Wheeler and Lacy Morris; one great-great grandson, Wyatt Rampa; two brothers: Allen “Buddy” (Joyce) Chipman of Texas and Ted (Charlene) Chipman of Lockport; one sister, Debbie (Eric) Ostrem of Ohio; sister-in-law, Sharon Chipman of New Lenox, and two brothers-in-law: Tommy Goodwin of Braceville and Arrie Goodwin of Arkansas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Charles “Stanley” Chipman; two brothers-in-law: Bob Goodwin and Jimmy Goodwin; one sister-in-law, Aline Anderson, and her great nephew, Conner Chipman.
A private family visitation was held and cremation rites were accorded.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington on Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until time of memorial service, 11:00 a.m. Pastor Jeff Logsdon from Island City Baptist Church will officiate, and inurnment will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Barb’s memory to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, Illinois 60431.
