Barbara Ann Haut

Age 74 of Gardner, Illinois, formerly of Hickory Hills, Illinois, died Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Morris Hospital.

Born July 19, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois, Barbara was a daughter of Edward and Gertrude (Blaszkiewicz) Pacer. She was raised in Chicago and graduated from Gurdon S. Hubbard High School with the Class of 1967. Barbara married Charles Robert Haut, and together they would eventually settle in Hickory Hills where they raised their family.

She was a waitress at the Sabre Room in Hickory Hills for over twenty years, providing service to many famous personalities, including Frank Sinatra. Barbara also worked for Helping Hand in Countryside as a job coach for disabled adults. She was devoted to her clients there, working with them at job sites, and often going above and beyond to make sure they received the care and guidance they deserved. Barbara relocated to Gardner in 2011 and became an active parishioner of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in South Wilmington, Illinois, participating in the Legion of Mary, teaching CCD, and helping with luncheons.

Her life was centered on being a caregiver, not just professionally, but in every part of her life. Barbara was the kind of woman who would stop to help a random person she had never met before, and would have given them the shirt off her back if they needed it. She raised three children while working multiple jobs, and still managed to always put their needs ahead of her own. Barbara would never let anyone go hungry, always making sure that everyone was full to the brim. She was thoughtful, selfless, and simply just wanted to make sure everyone was okay and had what they needed, and she passed on that gift and legacy to her family that she loved so dear.

Survivors include three children: Charles (Yordana) Haut of Austin, Texas, Samantha (Daryl) Siano of Gardner, and Tiffany (Jeremy) Cohen of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren: Ava, Nina, and Olivia Siano; one sister, Elaine (Matt) Zaucha of Naperville, Illinois; one nephew: Matt (Jill) Zaucha of Aurora, Illinois, and their children; and her canine companion, Pedro.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; and one son, Edward Joseph Haut in infancy.

Per Barbara’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.
