Becky "Grandma Becky" Larson

Age 68 and a lifelong resident of Wilmington, Illinois passed away peacefully on January 7, 2024 at her home.

Born February 12, 1955 in Joliet, Illinois, Becky Jo is a daughter of Jean (Cupples) Spink-Petersen of Wilmington and the late James Spink. She was raised in Wilmington, graduated from Wilmington High School with the Class of 1973, and went on to attend Beauticians School.

Becky worked as a self-employed hairdresser for several years before returning to Joliet Junior College where she earned her education in Medical Coding. She spent more than 25 years as a Medical Coder and her employment entailed working at St. Joseph Medical Center, Silver Cross Hospital, and the Will County Health Department.

A woman of diverse interests and talents, Becky held a lifelong passion for music ranging from Elvis to The Monkees and everything in between—including 80s Hairbands. A lover of creativity, she enjoyed crocheting and was renowned for her exceptional cooking and baking skills. One could always rely on her warm smile and infectious laughter wherever she went.

Becky's love for family knew no bounds—she cherished her role as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother above all else. Her incredible organizational skills were matched only by her tireless work ethic. She was a member of the Braidwood Recreation Club where she enjoyed fishing and feeding the deer with the grandchildren. She also successfully managed the Slick Willy Band for many years.

Her treasured memories include attending the Covered Bridge Festival annually for over three decades and partaking in the regular coffee clutch. Becky's love for animals was such that she had an affinity for all creatures, big and small.

Survivors include her mother, Jean Spink-Petersen; husband, Don, whom she married September 28, 1991; four sons: Damon (Nicole) Puracchio of Channahon, Kyle (Katie) Puracchio of Queen Creek, Arizona, Don, Jr. (Becky) Larson of Gulf Port, Mississippi and Mike (Cheryl) Larson of Mazon, Illinois; (15) grandchildren: Nicholas, Brendan, Zachary, and Marissa Puracchio, Carter and Kelsey Puracchio, Evan, Caleb, Emma and Corban Larson, Jade Larson, Kitana (Jake) Mueller, Mallory Larson and Kody and Kaleb Patterson; two sisters: Karen (Kenny) Hazelrigg of Kankakee and Brenda (Lynn) Fallon of Washougal, Washington; one aunt, Sharon (the late John) Cottingham of Streator, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as her beloved dog, Hester.

Becky was preceded by her fathers James Spink and Ed Petersen.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow Friday morning, January 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Brent Molskness from Mission Bible Church officiating.

Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington, and Becky’s grandsons will act as pallbearers.
