Obituary

Betty L. Holman

Age 94 of Morris, Illinois died peacefully Tuesday May 26, 2026 at Lightways Hospice in Joliet, Illinois.

Born April 18, 1932, in Mendota, Illinois, Betty Louise was the daughter of Anton and Lena (Eiberger) Seppi. She attended LaSalle-Peru Township High School and began working at an early age for the Westclox Clock Company in Peru.

On July 30, 1952, Betty married Noel D. Holman at St. Valentine Catholic Church in Peru, and together they built a loving home and raised their family. Following her marriage, Betty devoted herself to caring for her home and children. Later, she found great enjoyment driving a school bus for Saratoga Township, a position she faithfully held for more than 25 years.

A devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris since 1962, Betty also enjoyed spending time with the Caterpillar Camping Club and was formerly active with both the Morris Moose Lodge and the American Legion, where she often cooked for events and gatherings.

Betty embraced life wholeheartedly. She loved camping, bowling, dancing; which began in childhood and continued throughout her life, motorcycle trips with Noel, playing cards, and sewing. She was an enthusiastic Chicago Cubs fan, but above all else, Betty treasured her family. Nothing brought her greater happiness than attending and supporting the activities and accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.

Betty will be remembered as a generous, caring, and strong-willed woman whose resilience, practical ingenuity, and frugal nature were shaped early in life. She possessed an extraordinary memory that remained with her until her final days, and she always made it a point to show genuine interest in those she loved. Her warmth, devotion, and steadfast presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her children: Ricky Holman of Aurora, Illinois, Doug (Laura) Holman of Morris, David (Raylene) Holman of Lisbon, Illinois and Kathleen (Gary) McRell of Olivia, Minnesota; (10) grandchildren: Nathan (Elizabeth) Holman, Andrew Holman (Lori Baudino), Josh (Jen) Holman, Kristi (Nels) Mathre, Kevin (Ginger) Holman, Stephanie (Aaron) Westerfield, Nathaniel Nash, Matthew (Jena) McRell, Nicholas (Danielle) McRell and Christopher McRell (Lauren McCosh); (15) great grandchildren: Wyatt, Emelia, Cheyenne, Hunter, Owen, Henry, Harrison, Penelope, Kellen, Paxton, Layton, Piper, Oliver, Nova, Addison and several nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Noel; granddaughter, Emily Nash and one sister, Doris (Martin) Stachowiak.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Fruland Funeral Home, 121 West Jefferson Street in Morris on Sunday afternoon, May 31, 2026 between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow Monday morning, June 1, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 600 East Jackson Street in Morris. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Jason Stone presiding and Deacon Paul Jung assisting.

Burial will be in Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Morris, where Betty will be laid to rest with her late husband, Noel. Pallbearers will be: Nathan Holman, Andrew Holman, Josh Holman, Kevin Holman, Matthew McRell, Nicholas McRell, Christopher McRell.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Betty’s memory to Immaculate Conception School, 505 E. North Street, Morris, IL 60450.
