Billy Crews

Age 42 of Union Hill, Illinois and formerly of Wilmington, Illinois, died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 27, 2023.

Born September 4, 1980 in Joliet, Illinois, William Ray is a son of Paula (the late Tink) Rodgers-Windom and the late William Ray Crews, Sr. He was raised in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School with the Class of 1998. Billy married Hannah Rotramel, and together they brought three beautiful children into the world.

Billy began working at the Wilmington Park District at the age of 16, and continued to be a dedicated employee for the past 26 years. One who appreciated the outdoors, Billy enjoyed fishing and golf, but loved nothing more than being an awesome dad. He was a selfless soul, who never sat still, and will be remembered for his energetic and happy go lucky demeanor.

Survivors include his wife, Hannah; three children: Brayden, Skylar and Layla; his mother, Paula Windom; two brothers: Ricky Leadingham and Matt Crews; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lora and Tom Nugent; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jessica Persic, Elijah Rotramel, Jason Rotramel and Shannon Nugent, and nieces and nephews: Paige, Taylor, Colin, Tailor, Ella and Olivia.

Billy was preceded in death by his father, Tink Windom.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington on Monday, July 31, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will follow on Tuesday morning, August 1, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home, and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Wilmington.

Pallbearers will be: Brayden Crews, Derek Smith, Dave Welter, Ricky Leadingham, Colin Persic and Mike Rodgers.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Billy’s memory to the Wilmington Park District, or to the family for the benefit of Billy’s children.
