Age 67, of Wilmington, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at his home.

Born on June 28, 1958, in Joliet, Illinois, Billy Joe was a son of James and Velma (McCaslin) Rhodes. He was raised and educated in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School with the class of 1976. Billy went on and proudly served in the United States Army where he served for two years. Following his time in the service, he worked as a bolt maker for a manufacturing company for many years.

Billy enjoyed spending time outdoors, playing golf, mowing the lawn, and spending time with his family. He was notoriously a huge fan of his Chicago sports teams, especially the White Sox and Bears.

Survivors include his brother Jim (Karen) Rhodes, three sisters: Darlene (Lester) Geiss, Rita (Dave) Lovell, and Barbara Rhodes; as well as his numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and will always be remembered as "Uncle Joe" to them.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, and his special nephew, Markus.

Cremation rites are being accorded.

The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, in Wilmington on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Donations may be made as gifts in Billy's name to the Alzheimer's Association or the Veterans Association.
