Age 89 of Wilmington, passed away Thursday morning, July 30, 2020 at his home.

Born October 07, 1930 in Martinsville, Illinois, Bobby Gene was a son of Marion and Bertha (Kennedy) Stainbrook. On October 6, 1948, Bob married Marie Nowman in Wilmington and together they made their home in Wilmington. Bob worked as an auto mechanic his entire life owned and operated Harold & Bob’s in Wilmington with his brother Harold for over 30 years. In his free time, Bob enjoyed to golf, bowl and spend time working in the yard.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Marie; children: Diana (Ernest) Williams of Bourbonnais, Ruth (Richard) Sutherland of Channahon, Mary (Dennis) Rush and Janice Haarman, both of Wilmington, and Richard Stainbrook of Atlanta, Indiana; grandchildren: Richard Stainbrook, Jr., Lisa (Craig) Hiatt, Andrew (Ivette) Rush, Ernest Jr. (Kristy) Adams, Scott (Sandy) Sutherland, Kevin Adams, Robin Stephens and Jeffrey Haarman; (14) great grandchildren and (2) great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Jean Stainbrook of Wilmington and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry Stainbrook; grandson, John Stainbrook, one brother, Harold Stainbrook, and three sisters: Ruby Hanson, Gertrude Stein, and Edna Drown.

The family will receive friends for a visitation on Monday, August 3, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Face masks requirements and measures of safe social distancing practices will be in order, and the funeral home staff will assist the family not to exceed the safe number set forth for both the visitation and service.

Private family services will be held, and burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington. Those wishing to participate in Bob’s services are invited to watch the live stream starting at 12:00 p.m. by logging onto his memorial page.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Bob’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
