Bonnie Scott

Age 78 and formerly of Coal City, Illinois, passed away Tuesday morning, February 6, 2024 at Stonebridge Memory Care in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Born June 16, 1945 in Joliet, Illinois Bonita Ann was a daughter of John and Maxine (Sowers) Dite. She was raised in Coal City and graduated from Coal City High School with the Class of 1963. On May 8, 1965, Bonnie married Allen Scott in the Coal City United Methodist Church, and he preceded her in death on May 6, 1999.

Bonnie will be remembered as a dedicated wife and mother. She was a longtime and active member of Island City Baptist Church in Wilmington where she found joy in singing. In her free time, Bonnie enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles. She also cherished playing cards with her family. But above all, Bonnie's legacy lies in her unwavering commitment to caregiving and service to others—an embodiment of true humility.

Survivors include her four children: Lisa (Mike) Kelly of Carlinville, Illinois, Jennifer (Anthony) Pennington of Fairfield, Illinois, Jason (Joyce) Scott of Plainfield, Illinois and Kevin (Kim) Scott of Indianapolis, Indiana; eight grandchildren: Elizabeth (Steve) Compere and Kathleen Kelly, both of Chicago, Kayla (Jay) Stanley and Ally (Luke) Harl, both of Fairfield, Blake Scott and Christian Scott, both of Plainfield and Evan Scott and Lela Scott, both of Indianapolis; great grandchildren: Micah, Arlo and Renny Stanley with baby Della coming soon, and Beckham and Bellamy Harl; one brother, John Dite, Jr. (Marilyn Bryant) of Coal City; her sister-in-law, Nancy Scott of Spokane, Washington; nephew, Chance (Rena) Dite of Oceanside, California; niece, Jessie Scott of Spokane; great niece, Zoe and great nephew, Zeo.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Allen, and one brother-in-law, Jeff Scott.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Island City Baptist Church, 120 Vine Street in Wilmington, Illinois on Saturday, February 10, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until time of service at 5:00 p.m.

Bonnie will be laid to rest with her late husband in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
