Brent Rose

Brent D. Rose walked the plank, peacefully at home, on June 6, 2023 after boldly, courageously, valiantly fighting metastasized esophageal cancer. He will be missed beyond measure by his Princess Rachel and Pumpkin Abi, but they will always keep him in their hearts.

Brent was born at Morris Hospital, grew up in Hennepin, IL, and graduated from Putnam County High School. He proudly served in the United States Air Force as an air craft fuel systems mechanic. He bled red, white, and blue and loved anything that had a flag on it. He eventually settled in Diamond, IL where he met his lobster, Rachel. They were married at Campbell’s Park on September 25, 2009. He worked hard as a chemical operator and made a beautiful life for them and their greatest blessing, Abi.  Family meant everything to Brent and he always made sure his two ladies had smiles on their faces and he loved them more than anything.

Brent had the best sense of humor and not even a bad day, week, month, or even year could keep him from cracking jokes. He always had a song lyric, TV/movie quote, or corny joke at the ready. He often joked that he was a jack of all trades, master of none…there wasn’t much that he didn’t have knowledge on or couldn’t fix around the house and it was easy to have a conversation with Brent about anything. The garage was his happy place and he could often be found out there doing some woodworking, fixing something, or just tinkering around. He loved music, movies, especially westerns, history and math, sour candies, pirates, yada yada yada, and donuts. He was the best matey, always willing to jump in and give a hand.

Brent will leave a big hole in our family and will be truly missed by many, including, his mom Jeni Williams, mother-in-law Lynda and brother and sister in-laws, who were like true siblings, TJ and Amanda, Joe and Andi, and Jered and Val, along with his nephews and nieces, Jack, Molly, Heather, Eleanor, Ben, and Robin. Also by extended family and a great group of work friends who kept him smiling many days in these last months.  He will never be forgotten and we will carry on his jokes, stories, and sayings.

Letting him go is only made slightly easier by the fact that his best buddy Gilbert is happily wagging his tail as he’s been eagerly waiting for Brent.

Rachel and Abi want to thank everyone including their community for their constant love, support, kindness, help, and beauty that you have shown them in these difficult times. They were blessed with an amazing family and great group of friends and truly thank you all from the bottom of their hearts.

Cremation rites were accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be Saturday, June 17, 2023 at the Coal City Lions Club, 460 South Illinois Street, in Coal City from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The family would love if you joined them in celebrating their favorite matey, Brent. Let’s make it a day of remembering Brent, spreading love, and laughing. Please wear your favorite Band or Movie shirt because he would just love that.
