Age 99 of Coal City, Illinois, died Monday, February 26, 2024 at the Arc of Dwight Healthcare Center.
Born December 30, 1924 in Wilmington, Illinois, Catherine was a daughter of Herbert and Mae (Begler) Holoffe. She was raised and educated in Coal City and graduated from Coal City High School with the Class of 1942. On February 28, 1943, Catherine married Anthony "Buddy" Baudino at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Coal City.
She was a devoted member of Assumption Catholic Church, and took great pleasure in playing in card clubs, especially Euchre. Catherine was an excellent bowler and played in tournaments regularly, bowling all the way until she was 90 years old. A devoted wife and mother, she loved spending time with her children and was grateful to see her family grow into five generations. Catherine was a kind woman who was loved by all who knew her.
Survivors include her three children: Jim Baudino of Elwood, Illinois, Lynn Clark of Morris, Illinois, and Dan Baudino of Coal City; six grandchildren: Jamie (Adam) Shivery of Minnesota, Katie (John) Morrehead of Pennsylvania, Rachael (Steve) Bochus and Jeff Martis, both of Florida, and Trisha (Eric) Pelton and Brooke (Matt) Anderson, both of Morris; nine great grandchildren: Charlotte, Frankie, Marabelle, Gene (Kristina), Kaitlyn, Riley, Haley, Tayah, and Sawyer; one great great grandchild, Link, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents and husband; two sisters and one brother: Virginia Mae (Frank) Ruda, Mary Louise (Russell) Finley, and Herbert (Janis) Holoffe, Jr.; and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: John Baudino, Anna Marie Trotter, Elizabeth Whorter, Lillian Siron, Geraldine Davis, Laverne Naretto, and Grace Mulhall.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 215 South Kankakee Street, in Coal City on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Joshua Miller, and burial will follow at Braceville Gardner Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made as gifts in Catherine's memory to the family for distribution to charities of their choosing.
