“Aunt Cathy”

Age 74 of Wilmington and formerly Morris, passed away Wednesday morning June 15, 2022, at her home residence. Born October 22, 1947, in Morris, IL, Cathy was the oldest daughter of the late Francis and Joan (Griggs) Herman. She was raised in Wilmington. Throughout her life, Cathy would retain the intuition and the awe of a child.

Cathy will be remembered for her excitement over the little things, her reorganizational skills, her ability to always have a good time, and her exceptional memory. Cathy was a nurturing, sweet, selfless person with an innocent heart. Cathy loved all animals, especially her dogs: RJ, Tango, Diesel, Riot, and Ice. She loved being an aunt and sister. Her favorite thing in the world was being with her nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her brothers and sister: Susan (Roger) Johnson of Wilmington, John (Stacy) Herman of Coal City, and Daniel Herman of Wilmington; one brother-in-law, Richard Latham of Bourbonnais; seven nieces and nephews: Rhonda (Joey) Drake, Bradford (Ingrid) Latham, Amanda (Stephen) Gerdez, Brooke (Andrew) Crutchfield, Justin (Laci) Johnson, Leslie Herman, and Mitchell Herman. Eight great nieces and great nephews: Noah, Nathan, and Natalie Drake, George Burchfield, Logan Gerdez, Kai and Xavier Crutchfield, and baby Johnson.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Pamela Latham.

Cremation rites are being accorded, and the family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, in Wilmington from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A funeral procession will immediately follow the visitation to Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Morris, where Cathy will be laid to rest with her parents.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Cathy’s memory to St. Paul Lutheran School, 1780 Career Center Road, Bourbonnais, Illinois 60914.
