Cathy Smith

Age 56 of Diamond and formerly Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly June 9, 2014 at her home.

Born May 31, 1958 in Joliet, Catherine is a daughter of Gwen Smith of Wilmington and the late James E. Smith, Jr. She was raised and educated in Wilmington and will be remembered for her love of flowers and gardening, as well as her cats.

Survivors include her daughter Stephanie (David Southard) Hieser of Diamond; her mother Gwen Smith; sister Cindy Mowers and brothers: James E. Smith, III and Thomas E. Smith, all of Wilmington, and three nephews: Steve and Aaron Essary and Dalton Smith.

The family will receive friends on Monday June 16, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until time of memorial service 11:00 a.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Pastor Ron Taylor from Island City Baptist Church will officiate.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Cathy's memory to her family for their distribution.
