Age 76 of Chicago Ridge and Shadow Lakes, passed away Thursday evening, December 9, 2021 at STRIVE Center at Bria in Palos Hills, Illinois.

Born April 10, 1945 in Chicago, Charles Michael was a son of Edmund Michael and Anna Sophie (Tomczak) Donovan. He was raised in the Gage Park neighborhood of Chicago and graduated from Lindbloom High School with the Class of 1963.

Chuck went on to honorably serve in the US Army during Vietnam with the 101st and 82nd Airborne as a Paratrooper.

On January 12, 1966, he married Darlene Marie Golembeski in Chicago and together they made a home and raised their family in Chicago Ridge.

Chuck was employed with Atlantic Richfield (ARCO) in Stickney prior to going to work for Clark Oil Company in Blue Island, from where he retired. He was a member of The American Legion, belonged to Our Lady of the Ridge Catholic Church in Chicago Ridge, and enjoyed fishing, boating and tending to his fish pond and aquariums. Charles was an avid pet lover, and truly loved spending time at his home in Braidwood at Shadow Lakes.

Survivors include his two sons, Michael (Jamie) Donovan of Braidwood and Robert Donovan (Jamie Kelly) of Mokena; one granddaughter, Ariana Donovan; sister-in-law, MaryAnne Blattner; uncle, Kenny Havelka and several nephews and nieces.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lori; wife, Darlene, and two brothers.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Committal services will follow on Wednesday morning, December 15, 2021 in Resurrection Cemetery, Justice. Those wishing to attend are welcome to assemble at the cemetery entrance at 10:45 a.m. for the services and military honors which will be held in the cemetery chapel at 11:00 a.m.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Charles memory to a charity of the donor's choosing.
