Clarissa Louise Lavicka
Age 82, and formerly of Coal City, Illinois, passed away Monday, May 25, 2026, at Goldwater Care Center in Marseilles, Illinois.
Born on February 14, 1944, in Joliet, Illinois, Clarissa Louise was the daughter of Clarence Alfred and Teresa Maria (Balegno) Lavicka. She was raised in the Village of Eileen and attended local schools, graduating from Coal City High School. Clarissa was baptized, received her First Holy Communion, and was confirmed at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Coal City. In recent years, she attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Braidwood.
Clarissa began her professional career as a civil servant with the Federal Government at U.S. Army Headquarters (APSA) in the Special Weapons Department in Elwood, Illinois. She later worked as an executive secretary for Modern Filter in Rockdale before joining Durkee Foods in Joliet, where she served as Assistant Personnel Director until her retirement.
A devoted Catholic, Clarissa's faith guided her throughout her life. She treasured family and was known for her generous heart and thankful spirit. Clarissa was always grateful for the people who touched her life and never took life's blessings for granted. She will be remembered for her kindness, appreciation of others, and the love she shared with family and friends.
Heartfelt gratitude is extended to the nurses, caregivers, and staff of Goldwater Care Center in Marseilles for the compassionate care, dignity, and friendship they provided to Clarissa.
Per Clarissa’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service is being planned, and Clarissa will be laid to rest with her grandparents, Louis and Agnes Balegno at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Braidwood, Illinois at a later date to be announced.
