Age 86 of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at her home.

Born November 7, 1934 in Joliet, Illinois, Connie was a daughter of Ralph and Evelyn (Amann) Scherer. She attended the Cathedral of St. Raymond’s Catholic School and graduated from Joliet Township High School. On September 28, 1957, Connie married Richard Joseph Kaveney in the Cathedral of Saint Raymond Nonnatus in Joliet, and together they went on to make their home and raise their family in Plainfield.

Connie was a dedicated homemaker; worked out of the family home in Joliet as a beautician for many years, and later gained employment with the A.C. Steiner Shop in Plainfield. She loved going for walks and watching movies, but never wavered in her dedication to family.

Survivors include her daughter, Kimberly (Robert) Morris of Wilmington; son, Richard J. Jr. (Valerie) Kaveney of California; three grandchildren: Melanie (Austin) Cummings of Wilmington, and Grace Kaveney and Faith Kaveney, both of California; one great grandson, Wayne Richard Cummings; her sister, Shirley (the late Robert) Vescovi of Lockport; brother, Paul (Janice) Scherer of Indiana, and several nephews.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard J. Kaveney on April 25, 2021, and one sister-in-law, Marilyn (Raymond) Laurich.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and Connie will be laid to rest with her late husband in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood at a later date.
