Dale Richard Williamson, 87, of rural Sheridan, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023 at St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford with his family by his side.
Dale was born August 5, 1935 on the family farm in Seward Township, rural Minooka, to the late John E. Williamson and Verna B. (Hegland) Williamson.
He was a 1953 graduate of Minooka High School. Dale married Susan Gail (Hjemvick) on February 18, 1961 at the Plattville Lutheran Church. After serving in the military, Dale farmed the family farm in rural Minooka and a farm in rural Sheridan. He retired from farming in 2017. He served the Newark community on the Newark Grade School and High School boards. He was a faithful member of Newark Lutheran Church for over 50 years and served on the church council. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Lisa (Pastor William) Shields of Princeton, John (Wendy) Williamson of Morris and Karen (Rob) Allen of Oswego; nine grandchildren, Rebekah Shields, Matthew (Jacinda) Shields, Rachel (Jeff) Gaster, Nathan (Camille) Shields, Isaac (Sarah) Shields, Lauren (David) Mantey, Carly (Kyle Monk) Williamson, Mikayla Allen and Jenna Allen; eleven great grandchildren, Stella, Nora and Isla Shields, Abigail, Elijah, and Lydia Gaster, Cam and Benjamin Shields, Olivia and Gabriel Shields, and Samuel Mantey.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sue (2018), his brother Don Williamson (2018) and his wife Joda (2011), one great grandson Cam (2019), and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials can be made to the Newark Lutheran Church or to the donor’s choice.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Newark Lutheran Church with Pastor Jon Benson officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Morris. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church.
