Age 76, and a lifelong resident of Coal City, Illinois, died Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Serenity Nursing and Rehabilitation in Morris, Illinois.
Born January 10, 1948, in Joliet, Illinois, Darla was a daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Vaira) Stehlik. She graduated from Coal City High School with the Class of 1966, and on May 17, 1969 she married Ronald L. Hutton with whom she would share 42 years of marriage until he passed away in 2012. As a young woman, Darla worked for APSCA at the Joliet Arsenal Army Ammunition Plant, and later held employment with Heap Insurance Company in Morris, Illinois and with Bellettini's and Testa's IGA grocery stores in Coal City.
But her role of wife and mother was most important to Darla. She was an active participant in her daughter's activities growing up, providing tech crew support for dance recitals and even traveling abroad with the dance company. Her family would also enjoy many trips to the Area Number One Outdoor Club in Wilmington, creating many foundational memories. Later Darla retired from working to become a full-time grandma, devoting her time to grandchildren. In her spare time, she kept active with her regular Thursday night bowling league at Riverfront Lanes in Wilmington and golfing at High Point Golf Course in Essex, Illinois and Wolf Creek Golf Course in Pontiac, Illinois. Darla's die hard support of the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago White Sox will be remembered by many, but her love and support of her family will be her true legacy.
Survivors include her daughter, Ronette (Mike) Ksiazak of Coal City, three grandchildren: McKenzie and Caden Hennessy, and Jaxon Ksiazak; one brother, Joe Stehlik of Nevada, three sisters-in-law: Angie Hutton of Morris, Joyce (Louie) Bohlander of New Lenox, Illinois, and Marilyn (Jerry) Sutter of Sebastian, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Darla was preceded in death by her parents and husband; two daughters: Mindy and Michelle Hutton; three brothers-in-law: Jimmy Hutton, Roger (Cheryl) Hutton, and Bruce Hutton; one nephew, Bruce John Hutton, and her cousin and dear friend for many years: Marie Swanson.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway Street (one block North of Illinois Route 113), in Coal City on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois, where Darla will be laid to rest with her husband.
Family and friends are encouraged to sign the online guest book, upload photographs, and share Darla's memorial page via social media.
Funeral services and arrangements have been made under the direction and care of Reeves & Baskerville Funeral Homes and Crematory in Coal City (815) 634-2125.
