Darlene Chouinard

DARLENE B. CHOUINARD (nee Lockwood)

Age 83 of Morris, passed away on Thursday March 02, 2006 at the Morris Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her family.

Born October 20, 1922 in Kankakee, Darlene was a daughter of the late George and Hazel (Gilbert) Lockwood. She was raised and educated in Kankakee and graduated from Kankakee Community High School. On January 19, 1944, Darlene married Richard "Riz" Chouinard in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Kankakee and together they moved to Morris in 1954, where they owned and operated Riz's Grocery Store for over 30 years. Darlene was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris, a volunteer at Morris Community Hospital, member of Grundy County Home Extension and a member of the Morris Country Club. Darlene loved to golf, knit and crochet.

Darlene is survived by her husband of 62 years: Riz and she was a devoted and loving mother to: Diane (Pat) Rooney and Rhea (Pete) Dummitt, both of Morris, Sue Benson of Plainfield, Cherie (Doug) Prosser of Shorewood and Buz (Leslie) Chouinard of Morris. She is also survived by (8) grandchildren: Selina Dummitt of Beaverton, Oregon, Marty (Kim) Benson of Morris, Amy (Mike) Pitsenberger of Shorewood, Joe (Lori) Benson of Ballwin, Missouri, Mark Prosser of Fort Myer, Virginia, Katie Prosser of Shorewood and Ethan Chouinard and Emmet Chouinard, both of Morris. Five great grandchildren: Teesha, Brittany, Melissa, Anika and Mike; two sisters: Dorothy (Al) Allie of Phoenix, Arizona and Linda (Ken) Sikma of St. Anne and one sister-in-law: Peg Bullock of Bradley.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Neil Lockwood.

Visitation will be held on Sunday March 05, 2006 between the hours of 3:00PM and 6:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (2 Blocks East of Illinois Route 47) in Morris. Funeral services will follow on Monday March 6th at 10:00AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. Richard Smith officiating. A funeral luncheon will immediately follow the services in the St. Angela Room at Immaculate Conception, and a private family interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.

Pallbearers will be: Mark Prosser, Marty Benson, Joe Benson, Pat Rooney, Peter Dummitt, Doug Prosser, Ken Sikma and Amy Pitsenberger.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Darlene's memory to The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund, 516 East Jackson Street, Morris, Illinois 60450.
