David G. Dobbs

Age 66 of Dwight, Illinois and formerly of Hoxie, Arkansas, died unexpectedly on Tuesday November 7, 2023 at his home in Dwight.

Born July 28, 1957 in Rock Falls, Illinois, David Gene was a son of Bobby Darrell and Anna Marie (Moore) Dobbs. He moved with his family to the Dwight area where he went on to graduate from Dwight Township High School. After high school, David served in the United States Army as a tank mechanic. Following his military service, he relocated to Arkansas where he made his career as a carpenter and he most recently worked for Conrad Mobley Construction out of Arkansas before moving back to Illinois.

One who loved the outdoors, David took great pleasure in fishing and hunting. He cherished time spent with his grandchildren, and will be most remembered as a great story teller.

Survivors include children: Brian (Hilary) Dobbs of Dwight, Chad Dobbs of Elk Grove, Arkansas and Melissa (Kirk) Simms of Alton, Illinois; eight grandchildren: Caroline, Carlson, Collette, Carly, Julia, Madison, Kaitlynn and Gabriella, and one sister-in-law, Lisa Dobbs of Arkansas.

David was preceded in death by his parents; wife Dalene Dawson; two sisters, Lisha and Carol and one brother, Mark.

Cremation rites have been accorded.
