Deborah Jean Douglass

Age 64, of Wilmington, formerly Gardner and Kentucky, passed away at 3:55 am on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at her home with her husband by her side.

Born July 31, 1958 in Joliet, a daughter to Carmel and Marcine (Hicks) Boyle. Deborah graduated high school in 1976, and on July 19, 1980 she married Charles Douglass in Wilmington. Together they cherished 42 years.  Deborah worked as a CNA for Riverside Medical Center for 20 years, and also for Aperion Care for a few years until her retirement. Deborah had a playful spirit and a selfless heart. Her southern soulfulness loved people and would do anything for anyone. She enjoyed watching Cardinals in her back yard. Deborah first and foremost was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who cherished spending time with her family. She loved being a mother to her boys’ many friends, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her husband Charles of Wilmington; two sons: Nathaniel (Kim) Douglass of Normal and Jeffrey (Stephanie) Douglass of El Paso; four grandchildren: Nolan, Lyla, Jaxson and Juliette; two sisters: Kay (Steve) Gibson and Sue Davis both of Coal City; one sister-in-law Trish (the late Robert) Hall of Wilmington; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Kathy (Bill) James and one niece Heather Davis.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

The family will receive friends at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 E. Kahler Road, in Wilmington on Monday, December 12, 2022 between the hours of 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at 11:00 am with an additional visitation being held one hour prior. Pastor Jim Olson will officiate.

Preferred memorials in Deborah’s memory may be made as gifts to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
