Doris A. Fonner

Age 78, a resident of Heritage Woods Yorkville, and formerly of Wilmington, Illinois died Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, Illinois

Born September 18, 1944 in Rome, Georgia, Doris Ann was a daughter of David and Mary (Townsend) Foshee. She was a dedicated homemaker, who cherished being a mother and grandmother. Doris was a former member of Turning Point Church in Coal City, as well as Harvest Worship Center in Wilmington, and was currently attending New Hope Apostolic Church in Yorkville, Illinois.

Doris was a woman of faith who had a vast collection of lighthouses; enjoyed being active in church, and loved reading the bible.

Survivors include her two children: William (Vickey) Fonner of Montgomery, Illinois and Elizabeth Fonner (Tom Atkins) of Grant Park, Illinois; six grandchildren: Robert Crysel of Chicago, Shea Atkins and Daniel Atkins of Grant Park, and Amber Nilsson, Matthew Fonner and Joshua Fonner of Montgomery; one sister, Carolyn and numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Ray Brookshire and Seymour Fonner; two brothers: Henry and Charles and three sisters: Lucille, Pearl and Sarah.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral service 11:30 a.m.

Burial will follow in Oakridge Glen Oaks Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois where Doris will be laid to rest with her late husband, Seymour.

Pallbearers will be: William Fonner, Shea Atkins, Daniel Atkins, Amber Nilsson, Matthew Fonner and Joshua Fonner.
