Age 69 of Wilmington, Illinois and formerly of Bridgeview, Illinois died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Amita Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Illinois.
Born December 17, 1953 in Chicago, Edward Casmir was a son of Vytas and Sylvia Marie (Pupka) Tamosaitis. He was raised in the Marquette Park neighborhood of Chicago and graduated from Leo High School with the Class of 1971. Ed attended Richard J. Daley College where he studied Law Enforcement, as well as University of Illinois at Chicago, majoring in Accountancy. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he worked as an Atomic Demolition – Munition Expert and was stationed in Germany prior to his honorable discharge.
Ed’s career was primarily in security, and he held employment at Holy Cross Hospital, National Bank of Chicago, Northern Trust Bank, Ford City Mall, American Security and Investigating, and lastly The Chicago Board of Trade from where he retired.
One who was always extremely patriotic, Ed was proud of his service to Country; loved the flag and the USA, and also cherished his Lithuanian Culture. He enjoyed working on computers; could nearly fix anything broken and loved music and collecting vinyl. Christmas and the 4th of July were favorite holidays for Ed, and referenced to as “tater tot”, he will be remembered for being a loving and kind sentimental soul, which was not always identifiable by his outward appearance. He loved anything Harley, and only second to his family, were his dogs, which he dearly loved.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Carrie; his three children: Melissa Willuhn of Joliet, Michael (Rose) Tamosaitis of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Joseph (Tonya Branch) Tamosaitis of Westmont, Illinois; (8) grandchildren: Justin Kroll, Johnathan Kroll, Shawn Thomas, Jr., James Thomas, Jace Sanchez, Erik Tamosaitis, Andy Tamosaitis, and Elena Tamosaitis; two brothers: Leonard Tamosaitis and David (Holly) Tamosaitis, both of Oak Lawn, Illinois and one niece, Amanda Tamosaitis. Ed is also survived and loved by Mary's daughters: Cheryl, Kristyn and Brenda.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Samantha, granddaughter, Crystal; one brother, Roman and his nephew, Lucas.
