Eileen C. Newcomb

Age 82 of Joliet, Illinois, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at her home in the company of family.

Born January 14, 1942 in Chicago, Eileen was a daughter of James Meridy and Eileen Caroline (Boquest) Rambow.

Throughout her 82 years of life, Eileen found joy in all sports and delighted in the arts of sewing and cooking. However, it was her unwavering devotion to witnessing the growth and milestones of her grandchildren that truly defined her essence.

Eileen leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will be remembered always.

Survivors include her children: William, Jr. (Paula) Placher, John (Tami) Placher, Cheryl Tilley, David Placher, Joseph (Dawn) Placher, Beth Ann Newcomb and Rebecca (Thomas) Garcia; (15) grandchildren; (9) great grandchildren, and five step-children, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Newcomb; one sister, Blanche Thompson; brothers: Chuck Rambow and Joe Rambow; one son-in-law, Ray Tilley and her granddaughter, Annabella Vargas-Martinez.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

The family is planning a private celebration of life at a later date.
