Eleanore J. Jacklich

(nee Swartz)

Age 98 of Coal City, Illinois and North Port, Florida, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at her home in Coal City.

Born February 18, 1922 in Coal City, Eleanore Jane was a daughter of Charles and Katherine (nee Valtman) Swartz. She was raised and educated in Coal City, and on April 25, 1941, she married Rudolph Jacklich in Coal City.

Eleanore was a proud member of the Coal City United Methodist Church since the age of seven, and was honored by the church for being one of the longest active members. She was a devoted member of Friendship Circle, where her pies would be a staple of any social gathering at the church. Eleanore had a green thumb and always said she felt closer to God when she worked with the dirt. She even mowed the lawn herself up until the past few years. Eleanore was an independent woman who maintained a meticulous household and was always dressed fashionably. She had a passion for crafting and painting watercolors. Eleanore was a snowbird who looked forward to spending her winters at her home in North Port, Florida, where she maintained membership with the Englewood United Methodist Church. Her love for family was of utmost importance to her, and cherished every moment with those whom she loved.

Survivors include her daughter, Sonja (the late John) Ruth of Coal City and Venice, Florida, two step-grandchildren: Jodi (Kyle) Klode and Craig Ruth, both of Joliet; three step-great grandchildren: Ryan (Rachel) Klode of Channahon, Kayci Klode of Plainfield, and Kelly Klode of Mokena; one step-great-great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
