Mrs. Elsie "Dollie" Cairns

Age 95 of Coal City, passed away Thursday June 01, 2006 at Morris Hospital.

Born April 10, 1911 in Joliet, Dollie was a daughter of the late August and Mary Smith. She was a 1928 graduate of Joliet Township High School and on August 14, 1937 Dollie married Paul "Chick" Cairns in Coal City. She was a member of St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City, CCW Society, Coal City Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 1336 and the American Legion Auxiliary. Dollie was also an active member and past publicity chairman of the Coal City Senior Citizens Club, which she helped organize in 1975 and was the director of the Mellowdears Kitchen Band.

Dollie is survived by one daughter Mary (Don) Babjak of Bonfield, Illinois; Daughter-in-law Carol Cairns of Plainfield, Illinois; Three grandsons: Joey (Debbie) Girot and Steve (Robyn) Girot, both of Marseilles, Illinois and Donnie (Tami) Babjak of Essex, Illinois. Four great grandsons: Ryan Girot, Steve Girot and Michael Girot of Marseilles, Illinois and Mickey Babjak of Essex, Illinois, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Dollie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Chick, daughter Sandra Girot, son Paul "Bud" Cairns, son-in-law Joe Girot and five brothers and three sisters.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Monday June 05, 2006 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday June 6th at 10:00AM in Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. Mike Pennock officiating. A funeral luncheon in the Berst Center will immediately follow the services and a private family interment will be held in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Joey Girot, Steve Girot, Donnie Babjak, Ryan Girot, Steven Girot and Michael Girot. Honorary pallbearers will be: Don Babjak, Mickey Babjak, Wayne Roseland and Sharon Rotel.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Dollie's memory to her family for distribution to various local charities of their choice.

Funeral services and arrangements are under the direction of Reeves Funeral Homes, Ltd. in Coal City.
