Eric Newberry

Age 55, of Wilmington, Illinois, formerly of Plainfield, Illinois, died Thursday, August 2, 2023 at Morris Hospital.

Born February 28, 1968, Eric Sean was a son of Karen (Lobdell) and the late Samuel Newberry. He was raised and educated in Plainfield, Illinois, and was employed by the City of Crest Hill as a foreman with the Public Works Department. Eric relocated to Shadow Lakes which allowed plenty of time to go fishing and be outdoors. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved motorcycles, especially dirt bikes which was a passion he shared with his sons. Eric was a sociable guy, had the ability to have a conversation with anybody and to whom there were no strangers, who loved spending time with his friends and listening to classic rock music. Though he wasn't the type to ask for help, he was always available to anyone that needed help, especially with home projects. Eric was a jack of all trades who could do a little bit of everything.

Eric is survived by his mother, Karen Newberry of Wilmington, and his wife of 26 years, Tracey Newberry of Coal City; three sons: Sean (Caroline) Newberry of New Lenox, Illinois, and Alex and Kyle Newberry, both of Coal City; his first wife, Leanne Myers of New Lenox, and his three dogs: Baby, Riley, and Bandit.

Eric was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Newberry, his grandparents: William and Clemis Newberry and Lawrence and Alice Lobdell; and his brother, David Newberry.

Per his wishes, cremation rites were accorded and a private family memorial was held.

Family and friends are encouraged to sign the online guest book, upload photographs, and share Eric's memorial page via social media.

Cremation services and memorial arrangements have been made under the direction and care of Reeves & Baskerville Funeral Home and Crematory in Coal City (815) 634-2125.
