Age 84, of Morris, formerly Coal City, and Wilmington, passed away on December 12, 2022 at her home with her family by her side.
Born November 11, 1938 in Joliet, a daughter to Domenico and Primina (Deiro) Gallo. Fernanda was born and raised in Coal City, graduating from Coal City High School with the class of 1956. She married Thomas B. Josefik in 1969 and together they made a home in Morris after moving there from Wilmington in 1974. Fern worked for the United States Army Ammunition Procurement and Supply Agency from 1956-1972. She was a parishioner of Saint Patrick Parish in Seneca and Immaculate Conception Parish in Morris. Fern loved all animals and doted over her many pets through the years, including her two dogs, Jesse and Maggie. She enjoyed gardening and keeping many plants and flowers. Feeding birds and being close to nature and watching all animals brought her lifelong joy.
Fern loved cooking and feeding her family and friends at large and boisterous meals. She participated for many years in several bowling leagues. Fern was very active in the lives of her grandchildren, participating in as many events with them as she could. She enjoyed going to the casino to play the slots and being involved with various bingo tournaments. Fern loved to travel, and throughout the years she and Tom toured the country seeing many of the wonderful parks and monuments.
Survivors include her husband Thomas B. Josefik; three children: Benjamin (Tammy) Josefik, Adrienne (Jason) Beers and Nicholas (Dawn Morrison) Josefik; five grandchildren: Luke, Michael, Elizabeth, Noel and Eden; two nieces: Marie (Robert) Conquest and Marge (Dwayne) Nichols and one nephew Daniel (Bernadette) Josefik.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents, brother John Gallo, sister Margaret (Eugene) Degrush, and two nieces: Donna Casas and Catherine (Dale) Roehr.
