Gerald L. Hatch, Sr.

Age 88 of Braidwood, Illinois, died Monday, January 3, 2022 at Morris Hospital, following a brief battle with COVID.

Born November 16, 1933 in Manteno, Illinois, Gerald was a son of Glen W. and Irene (McNutt) Hatch. He was raised in Manteno and graduated from Manteno High School with the Class of 1951. On December 27, 1952, Gerald married Grace F. Buffo in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Braidwood, and together they made their home and raised their family in Braceville.

Gerald worked his entire life in construction, and was a member of Local 75 and Local 179, from where he retired in 1990 after 32 years of service. He was a member of Area #1 Club and the Wilmington Moose Lodge #241. Gerald enjoyed fishing and boating; camping, and spending time with the kids, grandkids and great grandkids.

Survivors include his son, Louis Hatch; daughter, Francine Palmer; grandchildren:  Nicole (Tom) Harrah, Nicholas (Marissa) Palmer , Derek Carter and Tiffany Schmidt; great grandchildren: Cameron Palmer, Kennedy Grace Palmer, Rachel Harrah, Jonathon Harrah, Joshua Harrah, Ashlyn Carter, Katelyn Carter, Heyli Schmidt, Alyssa Schmidt, Madison Schmidt and Cayden Schmidt; nephews and nieces: George McComb, Wayne (Judy) McComb, Britt (Laura) Hatch, Julie Pasel and Robyn Hatch, and numerous cousins, as well as friends at the Moose Lodge in Wilmington.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; wife Grace; son, Gerald “Butch” Hatch, Jr. and nephew, Kenny (Becky) McComb.

Private services are being held, and Gerald will be laid to rest with his late wife Grace in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Braidwood, Illinois.
