Glenda M. Stout

Age 75 of Coal City, Illinois, formerly of Wilmington, Illinois, died Friday, February 2, 2024 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Joliet, Illinois.

Born November 16, 1948 in Jacksonville, Illinois, Glenda Marie was a daughter of Glenn and Mary (Brockhouse) Stout. She was raised and educated in Wilmington, graduated from Wilmington High School with the Class of 1966, and attended Eastern Illinois University before completing beautician school. As a young woman, Glenda worked for several businesses including the Joliet Arsenal Ammunition Plant in Joliet. She was a member of Coal City United Methodist Church, and was a woman of strong faith who enjoyed listening to gospel music and sermons. Glenda also took pleasure in latch hook crafting, but her greatest joy was spent being with people and socializing with her family or friends, regardless whether it was over the phone or in person.

Survivors include her niece, Kerri (Bubba) Bennett of Denham Springs, Louisiana, and her great nephews, Dakota and Allen Bennett; as well as several cousins, and her dear friends: Carla (Harry) Watters of Braceville, Illinois, and Darlene "Doll" Crews of Wilmington.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Mary Stout, and one daughter: Cheryl Stout; and many aunts and uncles.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, in Wilmington on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of eulogy service at 6:00 p.m.

Per Glenda's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following the services, and a private inurnment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington, where Glenda will be laid to rest with her family.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Glenda's memory to the American Diabetes Association.
