Gordon A. Hansen

Age 67 of Wilmington, Illinois, died unexpectedly on Monday, July 7, 2025 at his home.

Born December 28, 1957 in Morris, Illinois, Gordon Allen was a son of Gaylord Hansen and Gladys (Smith) McLaughlin. He was raised in Gardner and graduated from Gardner South Wilmington High School with the Class of 1975.

Gordon worked for several years at WESCOM in Gardner and Alumax Mill Products in Morris. He enjoyed working on cars and used his skills by serving at multiple service locations. Gordon was a friendly guy who loved going to the local, county, and state fairs in the summertime. He looked forward to spending time with his friends and was always up for a good laugh. Ultimately, Gordon’s kindness and friendly disposition was recognized by all, and he will be remembered fondly for his want to help anyone who needed a helping hand.

Survivors include his daughter, Megan (Dave Decker) Hansen of Braceville, Illinois; one sister, Gayle (Wayne) Smith of Coal City, Illinois; one niece, Stacey (Mike) Harrison of Ponte Verde, Florida, and one nephew, Christian (Samantha Kee) Smith of Coal City, Illinois; one great nephew, Declan Smith, several cousins, and many dear friends including Bobby Thomas.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Gaylord Hansen and Gladys McLaughlin; one brother, Gary L. Hansen, and one nephew, Erick Hansen.

Per Gordon’s wishes, cremation rites are being accorded.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Gordon’s memory to his family for their distribution.
