Gregg Gugerty
Age 56 of Morris, Illinois, died Thursday, February 26, 2026 surrounded by family at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois, after a battle against pancreatic cancer.
Born May 30, 1969 in Joliet, Illinois, Gregg Edward is the son of Charles and Wanda (Zinanni) Gugerty. He was raised and educated in Lockport and graduated from Lockport Township High School with the Class of 1987. Gregg furthered his education by attending North Central College in Naperville, Illinois where he completed his Bachelor's of Science degree in Mathematics and Computer Sciences. On July 16, 1999, he married D'Anna Kaye Forbes at First Presbyterian Church in Morris, where together they made their home and raised their family.
Gregg worked for many years as a systems analyst and software engineer for Allstate Insurance, and was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church in Morris where he served as a Deacon and Elder. He utilized his gifts with mathematics to encourage young people by tutoring them. Gregg assisted ages ranging from intermediate level to advanced college studies, and for the last year had been working as a tutor at the Morris Community High School Math Lab. He was a strong supporter of the arts at MCHS, lending his time as the tech designer and building sets for their musical productions. Gregg often assisted his wife at the school serving as a chaperone and supporting the speech program as a coach and judge.
He was a great fan of sports, playing baseball as a young man and carried on with rec league volleyball and slow pitch softball as he got older, but especially enjoyed bowling. Gregg was a Division I bowler his Freshman year of college, and continued league bowling at lanes in Lockport, Channahon, and Joliet, with several perfect 300 games on his record.
Above all else, he was happiest when he was with his family. Gregg was a devoted husband and father who gave all he had to offer to being the best he could be for his family. He was a loving, supportive partner to D'Anna and took an active role in being involved with his daughters' interests, serving as a coach and board member with Morris Soccer Association and as a rec league softball coach. He was happiest following his daughters to softball tournaments around the country and band competitions throughout Illinois. He especially loved an evening out at the theatre whether at Chicago Shakespeare, or Drury Lane in Oakbrook. He made his home with many special pets throughout the years and knew there was always room for “just one more” dog or cat. Gregg was a true Renaissance man, with a fun spirit and a love that was undeniable for the people in his life, and will be cherished by the family and friends he leaves behind.
Gregg is survived by his parents, Charles and Wanda Gugerty of Lockport, and his wife, D'Anna Gugerty of Morris; two daughters: Claire Elizabeth Gugerty and Caite Victoria Gugerty, both of Morris; two sisters: Sherry Muench of Lockport and Sarah (Stan) Rutherford of Channahon; his mother and father-in-law: Curt and Sue Forbes of Altoona, Florida, and his brothers and sister-in-law: Danette (Eric) Colclasure of Pekin, IL and D.C. (Ron) Bails-Forbes of Cincinnati, OH; and one niece, Jenna Muench of Lockport.
Gregg was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Fred and Mabel Zinanni, and paternal grandparents, Ignatius "Nate" and Jeannette Gugerty.
Per Gregg's wishes, cremation rites are being accorded.
