Haley Marie Donzella (née Quigley), whose radiant spirit touched the lives of everyone she met, found her eternal beach on February 25, 2026, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was 29.
Haley was born on March 16, 1996, in Joliet, Illinois. Although her life began in the Midwest, she found her home in Southern California, where she truly thrived. She was happiest with sand between her toes and frequently enjoyed trips to Mexico, always finding time to relax with a cold cocktail on the beach.
Haley graduated from Wilmington High School in 2014 before heading to West Virginia University. It was there, among the rolling hills, that she met her sweetheart and future husband, Anthony Donzella. The couple married in 2018, and Haley continued her education in 2020, earning a Master's degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Southern California (USC) in 2022.
Haley's proudest achievement and greatest joy was the birth of her daughter, Cara, in 2021. Cara's joyful and outgoing spirit reflects her mother's light and ensures it will continue to shine for years to come.
When she wasn't chasing sunshine, Haley loved exploring the world and savoring life's simple pleasures. She loved wine and discovering new wine regions, especially Valle de Guadalupe. Her travels extended far beyond, taking her to the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Italy, Ireland, and Greece, where she embraced each experience with curiosity and adventure. At home, Haley enjoyed sewing projects and experimenting in the kitchen, always eager to try a new recipe and share it with those she loved.
Haley is survived by her loving husband, Anthony Donzella; her cherished daughter, Cara; her parents, Tom Quigley and Tina Plunk; her sister, Julie Quigley (Jose); her parents-in-law, Mike and Wendy Donzella; her sister-in-law, Megan Donzella (Cory); her grandparents-in-law, Bud and Alma; and Nonno, along with countless cousins and dear friends who will forever carry her light.
Haley was passionate about using her story to raise awareness about lung cancer. She wanted to remind everyone that anyone with lungs can get lung cancer and strongly encouraged awareness of screening and early detection.
Haley lived with joy, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for each day, and that spirit will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington on Saturday, March 21, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service 2:00 p.m.
A Celebration of Life will follow at The Crossings at Carlsbad in Carlsbad, California on March 29, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. (PST)
