Age 95 of Morris, Illinois died Saturday, June 14, 2025.
Fred was born July 21, 1929 and was raised in Coal City, graduating from Coal City High School with the Class of 1947. He worked for Trotter Farms until being drafted into military service. Fred served honorably in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant with his motor pool while stationed in Korea. He was married to the love of his life, Vivian Joan Howard, in 1951. They began their married life living at Trotter Farms until Fred gained employment with Caterpillar in Joliet, Illinois. Fred then built their home on Whitetie Road where they lived and raised their family. He dedicated the rest of his career to Caterpillar until his well earned retirement in 1992.
Fred loved living out in the country, finding great pleasure in the nature surrounding his home and living a simple life. He, along with Vivian, were avid bowlers and bowled regularly in leagues for many years at Echo Lanes in Morris. At the age of 80, Fred bowled a 300 at Echo Lanes, and continued to bowl after he moved to Florida. More than anything, he enjoyed being with his family and babysitting his grandchildren. Though he is now gone, he is finally reunited with the love of his life Vivian which brings great comfort to his family.
Survivors include his three children: Maxine (David) Finger of Englewood, Florida, Janet (Gary) Planeta of Coal City, and Kurt (Gail) Rohrbach of Joliet; six grandchildren: Megan (Todd) Gilkerson, Chad (the late Valynda) Planeta, Brock (Nikki) Planeta, Ashley (Rusty) Fosnaugh, Kourtnie Huddleston, and Shannon Rohrbach; eleven great grandchildren: Colin, Vivian, Austin, Magen, Nyah, Adyson, Cara, Camryn, Blake, Luke, and Brooke; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Per Fred's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, and a private graveside service will be held at Sample Cemetery where Fred will be laid to rest with his wife.
