“Buddy”

Age 59 of Fort White, Florida and formerly of Joliet, Illinois, passed away at his residence on Sunday, June 13, 2021. He had lived in Fort White for the past ten years with his daughter Meagan, after moving there from Kissimmee, Florida.

Harry Elmer was a son of Harry, Sr. and Alma Jean (Swaim) Swanson. He was raised in Joliet and attended Joliet West High School before entering into the United States Navy. Buddy honorably served his country for four years, and upon his discharge went to work as an over-the-road truck driver for the following twenty years.

Buddy enjoyed watching a variety of movies (most of all horror movies), the Andy Griffith Show (and he loved Barney Fife) He was a great fan of the Chicago Cubs, and enjoyed listening to Hank Williams Jr. and Pink Floyd. Buddy had a passion for cooking, and his greatest hobby was his entire family, whom he cherished spending time. He was loved by many, and will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his daughters: Meagan Tripp (Cody) and Kristina Perry (Jeremy), both of Ft. White, FL; his sisters, Lori Hank of Rockford, Illinois, Leanne Lutes of Coal City, Illinois, Patricia (Michael) Clinton of Richmond Hills, Georgia, and Mary (Mike) Langlois of New Lenox, Illinois. Three grandchildren Kyleigh Perry, Sophia Tripp, and Kane Boutin, and many nieces and nephews, as well as his longtime friend, and the mother of his children, Vicki (Mitch) Mays of Ft. White, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harry Elmer Sr. and Alma Jean (Swaim) Swanson, and brothers-in-law: James Hank and Doug Lutes.

Family and friends are invited to join together for military honors and a brief cemetery committal service at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois on Wednesday, July 28, 2021. Those wishing to attend are asked to arrive by 11:45 a.m., and services are scheduled at 12:00 noon. Derrek Torres will officiate.
