Harvey G. Urton

Age 84 of Yorkville, Illinois went to be with the Lord on May 30, 2025.

Born February 26, 1941 in Hancock, County, Illinois, Harvey Gene was a son of Frank and Reva (Roberts) Urton. He graduated from Plymouth High School and went on to marry Carol Miller on April 11, 1965 in Annawan, Illinois. Harvey made his career with Caterpillar Tractor Company in Joliet, where he dedicated 30 years of service. He was also a proud member of the Illinois National Guard.

Harvey found great joy in woodworking and birdwatching. His handmade creations—especially those crafted for his grandchildren and family—will continue to be treasured as heartfelt reminders of his love and craftsmanship. Among his proudest achievements was the creation of the Altar Cross for Plattville Methodist Church, a symbol of his enduring faith.

A devoted member of Helmar Lutheran Church, Harvey lived his beliefs through action. He volunteered faithfully at the Helmar Food Pantry and participated in the Last Supper Portrayal, where he honored the role of Thomas the Apostle with reverence and dedication.

Harvey’s memories will continue to be cherished by his wife of 60 years, Carol Marie Urton; his son, Richard (Jenny) Urton; grandchildren: Danielle, Wyatt, Matthew and Callie; daughter-in-law, Sheila Urton and sister-in-law, Joyce de la Torre, as well as (11) nieces and nephews.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Reva Urton; son, Brent Urton and brothers: Paul (Elnora) and Merlin (Carolyn) Urton.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Helmar Lutheran Church, 11935 Lisbon Road in Newark on Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until time of memorial service, 2:00 p.m. Pastor Steven Lombardo will officiate. Harvey will be laid to rest in Plattville Cemetery at a later date.
