Herman W. Reardanz

Age 77 of Coal City, Illinois passed away peacefully on November 13, 2023 at his home.

Born September 18, 1946 in Streator, Illinois, Herman Walter was a son of Herman Phillip and Marie (States) Reardanz. He was raised in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School with the Class of 1964.

Herman worked as a Computer Analyst with APSA at the Joliet Arsenal before gaining employment with the Will County Highway Department, where he made his career for the following 35 years, retiring in 2009. He was a member of the Island City Baptist Church of Wilmington, where he taught Sunday School.

Following his retirement, Herman enjoyed traveling and spending time outdoors. He took pleasure in working in the yard and could often be found passing the time tinkering in the garage. Herman could fix nearly anything broken; he collected carousel horses and porcelain eggs, and loved to spoil the grandkids.

Remembered as a caring, loving and compassionate soul, Herman was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who always put others above himself.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy (nee Codini); two sons: Christopher (Jennifer) Reardanz of Channahon and Ryan Reardanz of Wilmington; step-children: Yvette (Mike) Vana, John Lehnert, Joe (Tara) Lehnert and Jerry (Shelly) Lehnert; (12) grandchildren: Arisa Marie Reardanz, Cassandra Lehnert, Samantha Lehnert, Riley Lehnert, Lindsie Lehnert, Jennifer Foster, Mason Lehnert, Tristan Lehnert, Tyler Lehnert, Alexa Lehnert, Eison Lehnert and Myra Lehnert; three great grandchildren: Henry, Ares and Josie; two sisters: Eyvonne (Harry) Butcher and Wanda Breen, and one brother-in-law, Robert LaGrange, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Herman was preceded in death by his parents; son, Herman Edwin Reardanz (1990); two sisters: Marilyn LaGrange and Eileen Reardanz in infancy, and his brother-in-law: Ronald Breen.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington on Friday, December 1, 2023 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will follow on Saturday morning, December 2, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Wilmington, where Herman will be laid to rest with his son.

Pallbearers will be: Chris Reardanz, Ryan Reardanz, John Lehnert, Bill Butcher, Bob LaGrange II and Robert LaGrange III.
