Age 69, of Wilmington, Illinois, formerly of Manhattan, Illinois, passed away on March 14, 2026, at The Pearl of Joliet.
Born on January 18, 1957, in Monee, Illinois, Hugh was the son of Leo and Ruth (Rhodes) Kleckner. He was raised in Manhattan and educated in both Manhattan and Joliet, Illinois, and graduated from Lincoln-Way Central High School with the Class of 1976. Hugh spent nearly 40 years working as a truck driver. During his long career, he drove for several companies, including Prairie Creek Grain LLC, Welsh Red-E-Mix, and IVEX. On September 9, 1981, Hugh married the love of his life, Beverly, in Albany, New York and together they began their life and raised a family.
Hugh was a larger-than-life person who never met a stranger and seemed to be friends with everyone he encountered. He was a devoted Chicago Bears and Cubs fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR races whenever he could. Hugh also had a passion for photography and loved capturing moments through his camera. An animal lover at heart, he had a special place for pets and wildlife. Above all, Hugh was a family man who loved his wife and family more than anything and cherished the time he spent with them.
He is survived by his two children: Cliff and Carly (Tim Brewster) Kleckner; one grandson, Clyde Kleckner, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and several cousins.
Hugh was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Beverly, as well as his son, Kyle Kleckner.
Per Hugh's wishes cremation rites are being accorded.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, in Wilmington on Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Following the services he will be laid to rest at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington with his wife, Beverly.
