Jacqueline Freemantle

Jackie D. Freemantle

Age 75 of Crown Point, Indiana, formerly of Justice, Illinois, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020, at Saint Mary Medical Center in Hobart, Indiana with her family by her side.

Born June 6, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois, Jacqueline D. was a daughter of Emil and Nathel (nee Holland) Lauridsen. She was raised and educated in the Canaryville neighborhood of Chicago, and graduated from Thomas Kelly High School with the Class of 1962. On August 29, 1964, Jackie married Ronald F. Freemantle at the United Methodist Church in Canaryville, and together they would live and raise their family in Justice, Illinois. She took great pride in being a homemaker and raising her daughters. When her children were young, Jackie was active with the Parent Teacher’s Association and Girl Scouts, coordinating the Girl Scout Cookie distribution every year. She adored her grandchildren and relished every opportunity she had to spend time with them.

Jackie had a dynamic personality that was undeniable to anyone she knew or crossed paths with. She was always the life of the party who knew how to have a good time. Jackie was the host of any party she attended, and with rum and Pepsi in her hand she would be found playing card games, dancing, and having a great time. She, as well as her husband, owned and operated their own company making doll furniture and magnetic jewelry to sell at craft fairs. Jackie loved these opportunities to meet new people, share stories, and make new friends. With her sharp wit, and wicked sense of humor, she had the ability to catch someone completely off guard and put them completely at ease all at the same time.  Jackie had pet names and catch phrases for almost everyone who knew her that made you feel special. She loved people regardless of how she knew them, and with a ferocity that could not be matched. It was most apparent with her love and affection for her husband, Ron. She and Ron were inseparable for most of their lives. They lived and loved each other for 55 plus years, sharing many adventures through their love of travel and working the craft fair circuit. Jackie and Ron were each other’s best friend and true love, and together they shared that love with their entire family, friends, and anyone else they met along the way.

Survivors include her loving husband of 55 plus years, Ron Freemantle of Crown Point, Indiana; two daughters: Ronda (Joe) Dible of Lombard, Illinois and Lori (Dan) Katich of Crown Point, Indiana; seven grandchildren: Emily (fiance Garret Valentino) Dible of West Allis, Wisconsin, Sarah Dible of Lombard, Illinois, Kenny Dible of Lombard, Illinois, Matt (Lisa) Katich of Chicago, Monica Katich of Merrilville, Indiana, John (fiance Robyn Minks) Katich of Griffith, Indiana, and Annie Katich of London, England; four great grandchildren: Fiona, Emma, Daniel, and Colton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Mary Lou Gilhooly of Matteson, Illinois, Charlotte (Larry) Woessner of Oklahoma, Diane (Richard) Scremo of South Elgin, Illinois, Nora Freemantle of Texas, and JoAnn (Chuck) Costa of Lemont, Illinois; fond aunt of several nieces and nephews, including Kerri (Gerry) Nolan of Chicago, Illinois and Terri (Mike) Valeriano of Godley, Illinois; in addition to numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
