James A. Winker, 69, of Wilmington passed away January 4, 2021 at AMITA Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Illinois due to a Covid-19 related illness. He was born March 18, 1950 to Peter and Irma (Straussenburg) Winker of Frankfort, Illinois.
James grew up on a rural Frankfort dairy farm, Windy Hill Farms. He was self-employed, at one time, owning a trucking company. He enjoyed farming and fishing. He was an avid hunter and gun enthusiast. James was a former member of the Frankfort Gun Club. He loved animals, especially dogs. He enjoyed family outings and spending time with his loved ones.
He is the loving father of Christy (Thomas) Ziller, Jon (Kristin) Winker, Jim Winker, Jason (Jeannette) Winker, Connie (Chris) Proctor, Jeff (Joya) Winker, and Jeremy Winker, all of Wilmington. Proud grandfather of Shelby(Tim) Eaker, Peyton, Kasey, Kolton, and Reese Winker, Jake and Samantha Winker, Sunny Winker, Hailey Huml, Hannah Pogliano, Sutton Proctor, Dylan, Kyle, Ethan, Abygail, and Jeffery Winker Jr. Dear Brother-in-law to Joan Winker of Frankfort; Brother to Joann (Richard) Schellhase of Florida, and Donald (Francis) Cappel of Rochelle, Illinois. Private Interment will be at St. John’s Cemetery in Mokena, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, Peter and Irma Winker; one brother, Peter H. Winker; an infant son, Alan Winker; an infant grandson, Zachary Winker; and an infant granddaughter, Sophia Grace Proctor.
Per his wishes, cremation rites are being accorded and interment will be private.
