Janet Angela Reinke

Age 72, of Homewood, Illinois, passed away on March 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family, who will cherish her memory forever.

Born on November 17, 1953, in Columbus, Ohio, Janet Angela was a daughter to Fredrick II and Beverly (Walsh) Schmidt.

Janet will be remembered not only for her caring heart and unwavering devotion to her family, but also for her legendary sense of humor. Bigger than life and often the life of the party, Janet brought laughter, warmth, and just the right amount of bawdy mischief wherever she went. With her perfectly timed one‑liners, playful antics, and unforgettable spark, she had a gift for turning ordinary moments into ones filled with joy. Time spent with her was never dull and always memorable. A devoted mother and grandmother, Janet found her greatest joy in her family.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Kelly (Tom) Hosek of Morris, Illinois; her grandson, Joshua Hosek of Joliet, Illinois; and her granddaughter, Jillian Hosek of Lebanon, Tennessee; her siblings: Karen (John) Stalmack, Beth (Peter Frigo) Schmidt, and Kelly (Craig) Poerio; a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews: Michael Cepil, Dennis (Raina) Stalmack, Joanna Stalmack, and Abigail Poerio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick Schmidt II and Beverly Schmidt; her brothers: David Schmidt, Frederick Schmidt III, and her nephew, Alex Poerio.

Her presence will be deeply missed, but her laughter and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of life will be held at the Balagio Ristorante in Homewood on Saturday, March 28, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to bring a photo or a written memory to share in honor of Janet.
