Janice Kay Knop

Age 74 of Williamsville, New York, and formerly a resident of New Lenox, Coal City, Eileen and Carbon Hill, passed away May 4, 2021 in Williamsville.

Born July 6, 1946 in Joliet, Illinois, Janice Kay was a daughter of Harold “Boots” and Jeanette (Smith) Thompson. She was raised and educated in New Lenox and graduated from Lincoln Way High School with the Class of 1966.

Janice worked for Easter Seals Joliet Region for a total of 20 years, having a 4 year hiatus where she held employment with Salem Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was a former member of First Baptist Church of Coal City and belonged to the Carbon Hill Women’s Club.

Survivors include her children: Kristopher (Carla) Krahl of Williamsville, New York, Erica Krahl of Coal City, Illinois and Kelly Krahl of Braceville, Illinois; five grandchildren: Keegan Thacher and Cameron Thacher, both of Coal City, Ambiance Krahl of Braceville, and Dennis Krahl and Robert Krahl, both of Williamsville; one sister, Lynda (Kenneth) Darley of Coal City, and one brother, Alan (Judy) Thompson of New Lenox, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents.

The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at First Baptist Church of Coal City, 4470 East Illinois Route 113 in Coal City on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor David Gilleland will officiate.

A family inurnment will follow on Friday morning, June 4, 2021 in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet.
