Jerry D. English

Age 77, of Braidwood, Illinois, and formerly of Rosiclare and Joliet, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025, in Elmhurst, Illinois.

Born on April 26, 1948, in Elizabethtown, Illinois, Jerry was the son of Raleigh and Ruth (Vinyard) English. He was raised and educated in Rosiclare before proudly serving his country in the United States Army beginning in 1970. During his four years of service, Jerry earned several commendations, including the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and National Defense Service Medal.

Following his honorable discharge, Jerry worked for many years as a truck driver with Material Service. On June 30, 1991, he married the love of his life, Cecelia Kladis. Together they built a blended family filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Jerry found joy in the simple things—driving his well-kept 1999 Ford Ranger, mowing the lawn, and spending time with his family. He deeply loved his wife, took immense pride in his military service, and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Jerry also selflessly opened his heart and home to his grandson Nicholas, caring for him with unwavering love and devotion.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cecelia; his children: Jerry Lynn (Lee) Bryan, Johnny Paul (Cherie) English, Denise Klein, John Klein, and Donna (Ed) Max; his beloved grandchildren; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raleigh and Ruth English.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jerry's name to a local hospice facility of your choice.

Private family services will be held, and Jerry will be laid to rest with full military honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
