Jim Jessen

Age 56 of Coal City, Illinois and formerly of Michigan City, Indiana and Mokena, Illinois died Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Northwestern University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Born May 8, 1967 in Joliet, Illinois James Robert is a son of Jack R., Sr. and Elizabeth (Gibson) Jessen. He was raised in Mokena and graduated from Lincoln-Way High School with the Class of 1985.

Jim was a son, brother, father, grandfather and friend, who loved his Harley, and will be remembered for his enjoyment of riding.

Survivors include his parents, Jack and Elizabeth Jessen of Coal City; three children: Krystal Jessen of St. Anne, Illinois, Kyle (Hannah) Jessen of Indianapolis, Indiana and Cory Bonta of Claypool, Indiana; one granddaughter, Mackenzie; three brothers: Jack, Jr. (Lisa) Jessen of Morris, Illinois, Joseph Jessen of Huntley, Illinois and Jeremy (Tracy) Jessen of Monee, Illinois; his former wife, Julie Kellman-Jessen of Round Lake, Illinois, and best friend, Kim Yunker-Nave of Minooka, Illinois, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Victoria Gibson and paternal grandparents, Henry and Anne Jessen.

Per Jim’s wishes, cremation have been accorded.
