Age 80 of Wilmington, Illinois died Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, Illinois.
Born September 12, 1943 in Joliet, Illinois, James Anthony Stanley was the son of James Arthur and Anna Frances Stanley (née O'Connor). He grew up in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School as part of the Class of 1961. Jim furthered his education by attending Barber College in Chicago.
On July 18, 1964, Jim married Susan Turan at St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington. Together they built a home and raised their daughters. Jim dedicated over 40 years of his life to serving the community as a Barber.
Survivors include his wife, Susan; two daughters: Teri (Jeff) Streul of Plainfield and Julie (Gordon) Archey of Wilmington; six grandchildren: Christina Senior, Caitlin (Nick) Lopezalles, James Archey, Lauren Archey, Jessica Lapaso and Michael Archey; three great grandchildren: Mila Skrip, Arya Lopezalles and Joey Lopezalles; sisters-in-law: Christine (Tom) Cochran and Doris (George) Ragain, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his close group of friends known as the ‘Brain Trust’: Patrick, Smitty, Dennis, Curt, Rup, Rob, Lee, Beas, Webb and Julie.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Jean Decker, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Turner and Mary Turan.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a private celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date.
Jim will be laid in rest in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Wilmington.
