Jimmy Ray Ward

Age 54, formerly of Wilmington, Illinois, died Thursday evening, July 6, 2023 at his home in Morris, Illinois surrounded by family.

Born November 6, 1968 in Joliet, Illinois, Jimmy Ray is a son of Brenda (Don) Riley of Morris and Fred (Oshia) Ward of Tennessee. He was raised in Morris and Wilmington, and worked as a laborer throughout the years in construction and excavating.

Remembered for his love of everything outdoors, Jimmy enjoyed fishing, hiking, camping, and hunting for morels.

Survivors include his parents; four children: Natasha Ward, Steven Ward, Bailey Ward and Damon Ward (Gabby); seven grandchildren; one sister, Stacy Ward; step-sisters: Sue (Mark) Castanier, Laura (Bob) McCullough and Jennifer Riley; his uncle, Ron Jones and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his brother, Brian Riley, aunt, Donna Jones and Grandparents: Floyd and Josephine Jones and Pearley and Dovie Ward.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and a Celebration of Life is being planned.

Jimmy will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery, Wilmington.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Jimmy’s memory to his family for their distribution.
