John R. Coyle

Age 69 of Coal City, Illinois and formerly of Tinley Park, Illinois died unexpectedly on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at his home.

Born March 1, 1956 in Oak Lawn, Illinois, John Richard was a son of John and Helen (Kuczek) Coyle. He was raised in the Brighton Park neighborhood of Chicago and was a graduate of Thomas Kelly High School, Class of 1974.

Throughout his career, John dedicated himself to the trucking and transportation industry. He worked with Sparrer Sausage Company and later gained employment with Partners Warehouse in Elwood, Illinois. His reliability and good humor made him a favorite among coworkers and friends alike.

John was a man who never met a stranger. Known for his generous spirit, he would quite literally give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. His larger-than-life personality filled every room he entered—always happy-go-lucky, always ready with a joke, and never afraid to laugh at himself.

Earlier this year, John married Letty after a romance that spanned more than fifteen years. That day proved to be one of the happiest of his life, marking not only a celebration of enduring love but also the joyful blending of two families who shared in his boundless warmth and humor.

He found great joy in life’s simple pleasures—bowling, fishing, cooking, and trying new foods. John was the family’s self-appointed chef, often cooking up something delicious while dressed in his famously eccentric attire. His love of laughter, good food, and family made every gathering more memorable.

Above all, John was most proud of his sons. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and nothing made him happier than spending time with them, sharing stories, and passing along his contagious sense of humor.

John will be remembered for his kindness, his laughter, and his unwavering love for family and friends. His presence will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Leticia Urbina; children: Jay (Ashley) Coyle of Braidwood, Eric (Gabriela) Coyle of Elwood, Dany Urbina of LaGrange Park, Illinois and Alberto (Luz) Urbina of Chicago; five grandchildren: Alexandra and Max Coyle and Damian, Lyric and Benicio Urbina; two brothers: Dan (Sue) Coyle of Elgin, Illinois and Kenny (Lupe) Coyle of Palos Hills, Illinois, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents.
